Let Us Be Clear On This!

According to this morning’s edition of the Paulick Report, The Maryland Stewards, Mr. Burke, Mr. Campola and Mr. Grove have suspended Jockey Albert Delgado for thirty days for his failure to put forth his best effort on “My Sweet Nenana” in the seventh race at Laurel on February 1st of this year.  Mr. Campola and Mr. Burke are both quoted as having said they saw no evidence of wrongdoing other than Delgado’s performance.  Mr. Burke stated that during the hearing, Delgado mentioned his fear of the horse and that the Board concurred with that statement.  So Gentlemen, I ask, would it be a fair and complete statement to say that Delgado’s suspension was for failure to put forth his best effort because of fear of the horse?  What he was in fear of is not offered in any information that I have seen.
